#03 Technology and innovation

We see technological change as a chance to add value for our clients.

Exploiting the potential of digital transformation

Digital transformation makes big demands on an organisation's ability to grow its business model, its product and service range, and its cultural identity. But it also demands a lot of its technological infrastructure and innovative ability.
Our "Aareal 2020" programme for the future has put us on track to master these challenges. We are developing a powerful, modular, client-centric IT architecture that will optimally support us in leveraging potential new sources of earnings. At the same time we are strengthening our innovative capacity by enhancing our corporate culture.

The question is not whether, but rather when, disruptive processes will develop in individual sectors.

Although we have already achieved an excellent position on our markets as a provider of innovative digital solutions, we aim to consolidate this further. This is why we've drawn up a digital roadmap to systematically expand our digital solutions and organisational structures.
Further information on this roadmap, on our digital transformation initiatives and on why we want to work closely with start-ups can be found in the article in our online Annual Report entitled "Reset across the board. The digital property industry".

"The IT infrastructure plays a critical role for any company, and particularly a bank, that not only wants to face the challenges posed by digital transformation but also to actually pioneer the latter internally. It must provide a positive customer experience and facilitate new products, as well as supporting internal processes and agile working. This process should always be viewed from a cost-benefit perspective. As part of our Aareal 2020 programme, we are upgrading our IT capacity with a clear focus, while ensuring the best possible economic effect."
